Jaipur: The Gallta Police Gate on Saturday arrested a junior officer posted in the District Collectorate for allegedly deceiving people by promising PIPTA (rented rent).
DCP (North) Paris Deshmukh said Govind Sharma (40) was arrested and Rs 1.80 lakh recovered from him.
“The defendant cheats people by claiming that he has a higher government echelon,” he said.
Police said Sharma was a resident of Manbabh in Jai Singh Pura Khor.
The complainant recently filed brilliantly alleged that the defendant promised to get a rental deed and take Rs 4 Lakh.
But he did not get the document or he also returned money.
City police suspect the defendant in the past might have deceived other people too.
“We are checking to check how many people have been cheated.
Until now, only one case appears in our investigation,” an official said.
