Written by news2in

After 17 years, Kalingarayan tank near Sarkar Samakulam lived after water from the feeder channel entered the tank after recent rainfall.
Spread in 130 hectares, bone dry tanks for years because the feeder channel is not folded.
Recently, several organizations do desilting work from the feeder channel for 12 km through crowdfunding.
The water source for the Kalingarayan tank is a flow from Keeranatham.
The water reached the tank through the flow after three main tanks in Ottankottai, Nallusamyappan Kuttai, and Karidangtaai in Keeranatham were fulfilled.
Because the feeder channel was not expected for years, the tank did not receive water, said P Yatheesh, the coordinator of the welfare association of Keeranatham Waterbodies.
Previously, the District Rural Development Agency had pampered the Karutai Tank Karidangtai and Nallusamyappan after IT companies had contributed funds.
Kalingarayan Tank is one of the main push to refill ground water throughout the Panchayat Union.
Over the past few years, residents claim that groundwater quality is deteriorating because of the dry tank.
Yatheesh added that with water in the tank, groundwater quality is expected to increase.
People celebrate the flow of water into the tank by driving a Korasel.
