Mumbai: A trail of a senior citizen train at Kalyan Station nearby on Sunday was saved when the Mumbai-Varanasi train drivers apply emergency brakes on time after time notified by train officials, said the train center.
The incident occurred at around 12:45 a.m.
when the train starts from the Platform no.
4 from Kalyan train station in the neighboring district of Thane.
Shankar Day (70), which crossed the track at that time, fell and stuck under the train, said Railway Central (CR) in the release.
Head of the Permanent Way Inspector (CPWI) Santosh Kumar then shouted to warn Loco Pilot S K Pradhan and Assistant Loco Pilot Ravi Shankar G.
The two pilots Loco immediately apply emergency brakes and attracting elderly men from the bottom of the train, the word release said.
After the incident, the central train issued an advisor who asked people not to cross the railroad tracks, and warn that it could be proven fatal.
The general train manager of the central train, Alok Kansal, announced cash prizes of each RS 2,000 respectively for two Loco and CPWI pilots for their timely actions to save the lives of the man, officials said.
