Kalyan: Phule Mahatma police have solved a rape case of a 23-year-old deaf and mute girl by arresting the defendant from Gujarat.
The defendant who was arrested was identified as Ashwin Ratha (18).
He came from the Udaipur Chotta district in Gujarat and for a while staying in Thane.
On July 2, the defendant stopped the victim near the train station when he went for the job and took him to an empty bungalow where he was forcibly raped him.
Then, he grabbed the cellphone and escaped from the place.
After the incident, the victim approached the family who then went to the local Phule Mahatma police station to file a complaint.
The police took the sign of signal language translators to record the victim’s statement and finally submitted FIR.
Vivek Pansare, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 3 of Police Thane said, “Seeing the seriousness of our case forming five teams led by Senior Inspector Sambhaji Jadhav and finally our team managed to solve the Gujarat case.” Sambhaji Jadhav said, “We used CCTV footage from the defendant we got from the Kalyan train station through which we called the perpetrator.”
