Thane: The Anti-Corruption Bureau Thane (ACB) caught Avinash Bhanushali (57), a Public Works Department engineer (PWD) for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 5 Lakh.
He demanded bribery to carry out the assessment of a complainant property that would be affected because of the Mumbai-Vadodara toll road project.
ACB has found that Bhanushali first took RS 4 lakh bribes from the complainant on September 9, but on Monday, when he took the remaining cash at RS 1 Lakh at the PWD office in Kalyan, the ACB team arrested him red.
