Chennai: Four days after two women were robbed from their valuables in Kancheepuram, the police had arrested three men including relatives of one of the victims.
The defendant was identified as Sanhanakrishnan, 28, Gautham, 26 and Sivakumar, 29 of Salavakkam.
Meganathan, a Srinivasan auditor and sister lived in the same house at Mamallan Nagar at Kancheepuram.
Sanshanakrishnan is a relative that is far from Srinivasan.
On December 22 afternoon when Meganathan’s wives and Srinivasan were alone at home, a group of three fell.
They tied women and fled with more than 50 gold sovereignty, RS 5 Lakh cash and 1kg silver.
The police who reached the place of checking CCTV footage and found the involvement of Sanhanakrishnan.
Police said Srinivasan run the coaching center for TNPSC preparation and Santanakrishnan worked as an assistant to him.
He often visits home and pays attention to valuables locked in a room.
Along with his friends, Sanhanakrishnan hatched plans to rob valuables and escape.
He knows that women will be alone at home and always leave the door that is not locked.
He chose the afternoon because he knew that they would be busy watching TV and it was easy for them to get in, said the police.
Police Taluk Kancheepuram enrolled the case and arrested the defendant.
The police confiscated 44 gold sovereignty, 33 grams of silver cash and Rs 1.20 lakh.
They have been returned in court detention.
