Vijayanagara: Hampi Kannada University who has obtained special status for research in language, literature, culture and history is at the center of the case of misuse of funds where the former Chancellor and former registrants did not mention the tender for the construction work around Rs 50 Crore Government Money.
The Karnataka Lokayukta, who conducted an investigation, has submitted a report that confirms irregularities.
Complaints about irregularities submitted by HM Somandangh, a member of the non-teaching university staff who worked as office supervisors.
Somandangh complaints against Professor Mallika Ghanti, Chancellor’s representative between 2015 and 2016, and Professor D Pandurangababu, later registrants, and others for alleged misuse of government funds.
Lokayukta conducted an investigation and submitted its report to the government on August 13, 2021, and documentary evidence to the Ministry of Higher Education in January 2022.
In his investigation report said that “the work was deliberately shared to take them into PurView of the purview work contract.
Therefore, praying To take action against respondents.
“Professor Ghanti rejected the accusation as” wrong “.
He said that all development work had been carried out in accordance with the government’s rules through the construction of rural Karnataka Infrastructure Ltd (Kridl) and the material was purchased through Karnataka Country Electronics Development Corporation Limited (Keonik).
“This is a false accusation.
The government frees us from calling tenders if we oversee the work and purchase of material through these agents,” he said.
Kannada University has spent RS 50.86 Crore in buying materials from the keonik and has carried out development work through Kridl by passing the public transparency of Karnataka in the Procurement Act (KTPP), 1999, during 2014-15-16, Somanath has accused.
According to the Lokayukta report, the government has provided Rs 77.84 Crore to the University between 2015-19.
Without calling for tenders, the work was executed and the purchase was made using Rs 50.86 Crore.
The Executive Committee has received an investigation report and rejecting the replies given by university officials.
The problem is now delayed before the government acts against officials.
“The University’s authority has violated government regulations while carrying out work and they abuse government grants by dividing work.
The university uses more than 1.5 times the number of estimates for development work.
Lokayukta investigation report has upheld my accusation,” Somandangath said.
“I am fully confident in the CN Ashwathnarayan, who is the Minister of Higher Education, will begin actions against the perpetrators based on this report,” he added.
