KANPUR: Chacha Nehru hospital will shortly be developed to a level-2 hospital for most kids to cancel the next Covid wave. In the meeting convened by mayor Pramila Pandey and civil commissioner Akshay Tripathi, the pediatricians within the assembly said they could chalk out a strategy about prerequisites for the projected level-2 hospital in accordance with the instructions of the ministry. Dr Yashwant Rao, of the paediatric department, LLR hospital, and Dr Deepak Srivastava, Immunology division, Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital and Dr Amit Singh, health club of this town, were within the assembly. The municipal commissioner advised the kid experts that in light of the next Covid tide, a 50-bed hospital could be established in Chacha Nehru hospital. Of those 50 beds, the 20 beds are at the ICU and the rest 30 beds are equipped with electronics gear. He asked the physicians to recommend several doctors, physicians and the paramedical personnel for the hospital that will be developed just like a hospital. The hospital, to begin soon, would operate its OPD around the clock, he said. Dr Rao stated that a strategy for level-22 hospitals could be made in accordance with the requirements. “We’ve requested the civil engineering division to cut out a strategy for renovation of this building and begin the job in this respect while the gym was guided for vacated rooms out of the workers living in the hospital”, the civil commissioner mentioned. The mayor had introduced this proposal to the ministry to reopen Chacha Nehru hospital to youngsters to that the latter gave his nod after he visited the town last Saturday. Chacha Nehru hospital had been launched only after Independence to offer treatment to kids. It continued to work until the nineties. Afterwards, Kanpur Municipal Corporation began to run it after a time that the hospital had to be shut off as the KMC didn’t take any attention to conduct this, and its construction has been converted into a document space where old documents were stored.
