Kanpur: Kanpur Chess Association Choose as many as 8 players, including girls, in the age group under 20 years in the district selection trial championship, for Prabhat Prophe held here at the Modwill Hall of Prabhat Institution, on Saturday.
A total of 94 players, including 22 chess players, participated in the selection trial championship held in five rounds.
Voters choose four best players in groups of boys and women to represent the district team in the scheduled Thestate Championship in Jhansi on 29 and 30 December, said Dilip Srivastava, Secretary, Kanpur Chess Association.
He told the district associations to bear the cost of travel and entered from all selected players.
Previously, Manoj Srivastava had inaugurated the tournament by continuing a piece of white on the board.
The main guest, later, at night presented certificates and trophies to four top players in each group.
