TOPEKA: Governor Laura Kelly has ordered flags throughout the state to be flown by half staff to honor victims of Covid-19 because Kansas exceeded 6,000 deaths reported.
Kelly’s command Monday was immediately applied and directed that the flag remained down until sunset Wednesday.
The governor has issued orders in such a way that Kansas reports 1,000 other Covid-19 deaths.
According to Kansas Health Department data, the average country of 15 additional reported Covid-19 deaths a day for seven days ended Monday.
The number of deaths reported rose 43 since Friday, making a total of 6,024.
The state also reported an average of 1,012 new cases and 37 extra hospitalization a day for seven days ended Monday.
Meanwhile, the North Carolina-based hospital system announced Monday that more than 175 workers had been fired for failing to comply with Covid-19 vaccination requirements.
Last week, Novant’s health announced 375 employees had been suspended and given five days to obey the mandate.
The deadline is Friday.
