N’Golo Kante continues to be fundamental to Chelsea’s victory from the Champions League this year and the Blues are expecting that the defensive midfielder, who sustained a hamstring injury in their Premier League match against Leicester City, will soon be prepared to take on Manchester City at the Champions League final on Saturday.
Former Manchester City and England goalkeeper David James also believes Kante’s fitness is going to be among the most significant things in this conflict of EPL giants.
“It is to be observed whether it was a hamstring tear he lasted or if he arrived off apprehending it might be a rip,” James told TOI on Friday.
“When the latter is correct, it is hard for him to become fit for the last.
He’s been phenomenal throughout the year and with no Chelsea have fought to control matches.
For me personally, Kante, together with goalkeeper Edouard Mendy (who’s also coming out of a rib injury) would be the most significant players to Chelsea,” James added.
The simple fact that the Euros are around the corner also can play a role at Kante’s participation in the Man City battle.
An aggravated injury could well rule him from this quadrennial showpiece beginning on June 14.

“Yes, there’s a chance of this being to the back of your head.
I am simply wondering if Thomas Tuchel has retained him at the group merely to make a proposal he is accessible and also make Pep Guardiola alter his plans.
A couple of thoughts games will proceed,” James explained.
The former keeper, that has 93 caps for Man City involving 2004-06, considers his former team is going to be the favorites in the last, though they dropped the previous two matches to Chelsea.
“I really don’t believe those two beats have some effect on the last.
From the FA Cup semis, City rested many gamers.
And prior to the EPL match (which Chelsea won 2-1), Man City had all but wrapped up the name.
“Even though Man City players are nicely rested also, Chelsea needed to struggle until the final day of their league to guarantee CL qualification.
Add to this the sort of soccer that City have performed through the year and they need to be the favorites,” James added.

“Yes, he’s won 2 Champions Leagues using Barcelona (2009 and’11), but there was Leo Messi within his group.
That is the name he has not won since (possibly in Bayern Munich or even Manchester City) and there is no doubt this is the biggest match of his profession,” James explained.
