Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli Dam saw a heavy inflow after the rain

Kanyakumari: Normalcy is influenced in areas on the edge of Tamirabarani, Kodayar, Burliyar and Palaiyaru in Kanyakumari’s siblings when the rivers are flooded with heavy rain which destroys the southern districts until 11am on Sundays.
M Arvind District collector told toi that 380 people were saved from the lowlands in Kuzhithurai, Thovovalai and Killyousor and were taken to shelter.
Kanyakumari recorded an average rainfall of 89.8 mm in 24 hours to 8 am on Sunday.
Officials said the Kodayar Dam received the highest rainfall of 336 mm, followed by Pechiparai (216.6 mm), Chittar I (204.2 mm), Chittar II (194.6 mm), Balamore (152.2 mm), Perkhani (110 , 4) mm) and Surulacode (102.4 mm).
Although only around 28,000 CUSEC was the highest combined dismissal of Pechiparai reservoir, Perughani and Chittar I and II to Thamirabarani on Saturday night, the water level rose to 43,891 cusec on Sunday due to the inflow.
Rain claims one life and search is for the others missing.
In Kadiyapattinam, a man bathed around 11 o’clock in the morning on Saturday drowned while in Keriparai, a man washed away on the banks of the flood.
Rain damaged three cottages fully at Agastheeswaram Taluk.
Fire and rescue service personnel deployed five shipments that increased and 75 personnel to save around 90 people stranded in the lowlands in and around Kuzhithurai.
Police with the help of a fishing boat saved eight people near the Virivilai Bridge.
The boat is increasing with fire service personnel that are often upside down because of the power of water in Pallikkal.
“Rescue personnel achieve safety by sticking to trees,” said District Fire Secretary (DFO).
He added that the water level receded two feet around 7pm on Sunday.
All Courtallams fell in the Tenkasi District, Thiruparappu fell in Kanyakumari and Thalayanai District in the Tirunelveli district flooded.
In Tirunelveli Painasam recorded 275 mm highest rainfall in the district a day, followed by manimuthar (102.8 mm) and ambassyamudam (75 mm).
The water level in the Painasam dam is 143 feet up 23 feet a day to 131.3 feet on Sunday morning.
The main dam with a capacity of 5,500 MCFT has an on average of 20,862 cusecs in 24 hours to 8am on Sunday.
On the servalar dam as high as 156 feet, the level increases by 22.11 feet.
