Chennai: After a long legal battle, the 1.344sqft property worth ₹ 2 crore, belonging to the Mylapore Arulmigu Kapeeeshwarar temple, taken from tenants who have rented property but failed to pay rent.
In the official release, the temple authority said the building property was rented to the Gopal Iyer, which the next of Kin had lived in the building after his death.
Because there was a rent because of ₹ 1.83 lakh, the temple signaled the tenant to empty and submit property on March 11, 2015.
The tenant, however, did not pay property or submit properties.
Therefore, the temple authority approached the court and submitted a case on April 23, 2015, against G Ramakrishnan, then from Kin to Gopal Iyer, the release said.
On Thursday, the temple took the property, which rented ₹ 8, 0.2 lakh due, after a legal battle.
