Lucknow: After two Delta cases plus strains appeared in Deoria and Gorakhpur, a patient tested positive for the Covid-19 Kappa strain in Sant Kabir Nagar.
The patient, a 66-year-old man, has died.
Tension is detected during the genome sequencing exercise.
The sample was collected on June 13 as a routine and sent to the Institute of Genomic and Integrative Biology CSIR, New Delhi.
The results came a few days ago.
Like Delta Plus, Kappa has also been declared a virus that is a concern.
Head of the Microbiology Department at GRD Medical College, Dr.
Amresh Singh said the patient had tested the positive Covid on May 27 at Sant Kabir Nagar and was taken to Brd Medical College on June 12.
The sample was taken on June 13.
“The patient died in the treatment on June 14.
He has no history of travel,” said Dr.
Singh.
Health officials said more than 2,000 samples were sent to the genome sequencing from above.
Of the total, 80% have tested the positive Delta virus while 6% have been positively tested for the alpha strain.
On Wednesday, two Delta strain cases plus recorded for the first time above.
Officials said none of the three had a history of travel showing the virus was in motors.
