Mangaluru: Rare Inscription Jain Banga Arasa, a king of the region contributed to Echila Mutt, found in Annapady from Sajipamooda Village on Bantwal Taluk recently.
This rare inscription was found on Areca Agriculture at the end of Mohana Poojary and featured ‘Purushamriga’ (mythical creature).
Sa Krishnaiiah, founder of the Director of the Prachya Sanchaya Research Center (Oriental Archive), Udupi told Tii, the inscription was found near the Temple of Annapady Balaganapati.
Sanchayagiri Rani Abbakka Research Center Tulu President Tukarama Poojary and Taluk Pancayat Former President Yashwantha Deraje took the writing to Krishnaiiah notification.
After this, Shruthesh Acharya Moodubelle described the inscription.
Shruthesh said the preliminary study of the inscription showed that it was the 15th century inscription with a unique statue ‘Purushamriga’.
This is possible for the first time that the statue of Purushamriga was engraved found in an inscription from this region.
This has been noted in the top row of the inscription.
About 33 ‘Kaatgadyana’ (coins) is submitted to Mutt so they can take care of ‘naifiedya’ or Rice Prasad.
The granite inscription is about 138cm and 76cm wide with Kannada script.
It has 17 lines and aura with Shivalda.
To mark the world perspective the view of ‘Soorya Chandra’ has been written.
A bull at an inscription has also been described.
The prize inscription has been given to Echila Mutt by Lakshmappa Arasa Odeya, the nephew of Banga King Pandyappa Aras on the day of the moon eclipse.
“More research on inscriptions will turn on the history of Tulunadu and its leaders,” Shruthesh said.
