Bengaluru: The cabinet on Thursday approved the names of 166 detainees to be released before the time based on good behavior.
The list of detainees will now be sent to the Governor to be approved, follow what they will be released.
Usually, the exercise coincides with the Republican Day celebration, but this year is delayed, said the Department of House officials.
In 2014, the government developed new guidelines for the release of premature categories of certain detainees who have been sentenced to life but completed 14 years in prison with a good track record.
This guideline will apply to people who meet the requirements with the provisions, including their cases not included in Section 435 of the Criminal Code and they carry out guarantee bonds.
They must have good behavioral records during parole and, as a result of their release, there should be no interference with law and order and there is no threat to themselves or the victim’s family.
A committee led by the main secretary, the department of the house, reviewing proposals based on cases per case and making recommendations for the cabinet.
The list was finally taken to the governor for approval.
