Bengaluru: Minister of Health K Sudhakar on Thursday said the government had ordered 20% of beds in the district hospital and the net and public health center for children in front of the third wave of the possible Covid-19 infection.
This step comes in a wave of health experts who warn that the next wave can hit children (which are under 18 years) hard.
Replying to questions in the legislative assembly, Sudhakar said the government has made complicated arrangements by adding medical equipment and human resources to overcome the third wave.
More than 25,870 is axated bed and 502 children’s ventilators are ready.
“In addition, 285 pediatrics, 1,250 doctors and 1,202 nurses have been trained to overcome the third wave effectively.
We will also appoint 85 Pediatricians soon,” said Sudhakar.
He said the country had ordered more medical equipment to arrive for the next two or three weeks.
Dialysis centers in Limbosudhakar said the problems related to the dialysis center in government hospitals managed by the BR Shetty Foundation would be completed in a month.
The foundation has run 57 dialysis centers in government hospitals throughout the state on the PPP model.
But after BR Shetty went bankrupt, the cut financial problems affected the functions of these centers and patients had been affected, the Minister said.
Many MLA raised the problem in assembly and demanded that the government overcome it based on priority.
Speaker Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri said it was a noble scheme that was applied to help poor patients and urge the government to ensure they run efficiently.
Some members claim staff in these centers have not been paid for the past six months.
Sudhakar said the government was aware of this problem and made alternative arrangements.
“The company said it was not in the position to run these centers,” he said.
In the issue of unpaid salaries to staff, the minister said the government had transferred staff salaries until August to the foundation according to the agreement, but the company had not paid it to the staff.
“We make arrangements to pay a salary directly,” he said.
