Karnataka: 4.5 Lakh Applicants Waiting for Ration Cards throughout the State

Hubballi: Since the beginning of 2017-18 until the beginning of the current fiscal year, more than 4.5 lakh people have submitted a ration card in Karnataka.
Although officials have cleared almost 60% of the application – 2.7 lakh – no one has been issued, annoying applicants.
The delay only adds to a list of problems that have been less capable.
The Department of Food and Civil Equipment will begin publishing a ration card to applicants, the credentials that have been verified, in August 2021.
But the two pandemic waves delay the process.
On December 17, 2021, the Department of Civil Service Commissioner Shamla Iqbal issued orders to officials in all districts, asking them to issue a ration card to those whose applications had been cleaned.
However, officials in many districts, pointing to a long queue in front of the office, have stated helplessness in starting the process.
In Dharwad, for example, the authorities issued a card to families who deal with emergencies, but only after food inspectors and other officials have verified applicant credentials.
Officials in all districts have compiled a list of applicants, credentials that have been verified.
In some districts, officials prioritize those who deal with health emergencies, and for those in tribal hamlets.
We will see complaints if there are districts that have not started the process.
Empty Iqbal, Commissioner, Department of Food and Supply Civil Sutdut Director of Food and Civil Equipment in Dharwad, Vinayak Palankar, said, “We have started processing the application for new cards, and within a week, people will start getting their cards.
We will start with that application Submitted in 2017-18, and continued chronologically.
We have received more than 15,000 applications in the Dharwad district, and we make all settings to start removing new rations of cards.
” Shakuntala, a resident of Deshpande Nagar, drank a delay.
“We really need these cards, not only for the provisions but also health services,” he said.
Former Deputy Chairperson of Karnataka Food and Civil Inventory Corporation Mohan Asiti asked the authorities concerned to speed up the process.
“The government must be more serious about the issuance of a ration card.
People who rely on the public distribution system struggle to get monthly provisions,” he said.
Dharwad District In-Charge Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa said he would hold all officials in the department and instruct them not to delay the publication of a ration card.
