Udupi: As part of the International Coastal Cleaning Day (ICC), nearly 685 kg of non-biodegradable waste collected from a 1.7 km stretch between Padubidri End Point Blue Flag Beach, and the main beach of Padubidri on Saturday.
Provide details about the coastal cleaning competition, Nayak Vijeth, Beach Manager, told TII that the department has distributed Google forms that invite local residents, students, and NGOs to participate in the coastal cleaning competition.
Six teams consisting of five members each participated.
The event began at 9:30 a.m.
and finished at 11:30 a.m.
The participants complained about what to choose, and also separate waste in the source, especially plastic, glass, nets and other items.
Karavali star, local team, who managed to collect 220 kg waste, a winner appeared, followed by volunteers from a private university in Mulki, which collected 186 kg of waste.
Winners are valued with cash prizes and certificates.
This competition was held by the Padubidri End Point Blue Flag Beach, under the District Tourism Development Committee.
Meanwhile, the crowd on the coast gradually increased.
On Sundays, around 700 people visit the beach.
