Karnataka: 71% of the well witnessed the increase in water in the last decade

MySuru: In the past decade, 71% of wells analyzed in the state have reported an increase in water surfaces, according to data by Central Air Board (CGWB).
In Karnataka, the Directorate of Land analyzes water levels every month.
The figure was related to the period between November 2010 and November 2020.
Among 1,316 wells were analyzed, excess for 4 meters falling on the surface of the water was reported in just 1.7% of wells.
Among the wells were analyzed, 936 witnessed an increase in water levels while 370 well recorded.
This data was completed by the Union Minister for Jal Shakti Prahlad Singh Patel in the ongoing Lok Sabha session in a reply to the question proposed by Tamil Nadu MP S Jagathraakkan.
Jayanna G, Director, Land Water Directorate, Karnataka confirmed the increase in water levels in the state.
“Every month, we analyze water tables throughout the country through special observation wells,” he said.
“Generally increasing water levels in the rainy season because two drops of main reasons in demand for groundwater and rainwater are charging underground ground water,” he said.
However, experts show that these findings do not represent the overall description.
“The water crisis is reality everywhere.
Table water fluctuates from regions to regions in different seasons, “said Keshava H Karse, a conservationist biologist.
