Karnataka: Ashes of All 1,200 Covid-19 victims Found in Cauvery

MANDYA: At a gesture that is fine, the authorities sprinkled with ash of 1,200 Covid-19 sufferers at the river Cauvery in Belakavadi at Mandya district Wednesday, running the last rites according to Hindu heritage.
Directed by priests by Sri Kashi Visvesvara temple situated in Malavalli taluk, earnings minister Ashoka conducted the rituals to the banks of this river, ensuring that a dignified farewell for those victims.
The ash had been left unclaimed and have been saved in sand urns.
The mass immersion of ash is, possibly, the earliest of its type in the nation and comes in the aftermath of the bodies of Covid-19 sufferers at Uttar Pradesh being thrown at the river Ganga, a few of which floated downstream to Bihar.
Ashoka Agree into the events when he explained:”Throwing bodies of deceased Covid patients to the lake is an heinous and horrific action.
We, for the very first time, ran this sort of ritual [mass immersion of ash ] on our land.
Henceforthwe will not predict unclaimed bodies as’anatha shava’ [orphan body].” He stated he would shortly pass orders directing district deputy commissioners to exude the duty of running last rites of unclaimed bodies/ashes into the revenue division.
“If relatives don’t accumulate ashes of their deceased in 15 days, the authorities should ditch the ash according to convention,” he explained.
KC Narayanagowda, minister responsible for Mandya district, moreover leading district-level officials such as deputy commissioner S Ashwathi participate in Wednesday’s rituals.
