Karnataka: Attending classes without hijab or face action, warn of college

Udupi: The government of PU College for girls in Udupi has firmly said that students wearing headscarves will not be permitted in the classroom.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat, as well as the President of the College College Committee, on Monday warned of actions if students violated the rules and entered the classroom wearing a headscarf.
MLA said students would not be allowed to create chaos or confusion on campus.
He said he entered college only for students and staff members and appropriate actions would be taken against unauthorized people who rummaged the rules and entered the campus, indicating organizational representatives and representatives.
The steps have been taken when universities receive complaints from other parents of students when the examination approaches, said Bhat.
One of the six girls who had boycotted classes for a month said they intended to go to college on Tuesday wearing a headscarf.
In accordance with the direction of the government, six students have been asked not to wear headscarves in class until the report by the expert committee is submitted.
Monday’s meeting called by the college development committee was attended by only four students who protested and their parents.
The committee was impressed with their importance of academics and maintained harmony on campus.
