New Delhi: Karnataka beat Vidarbha with four walks in the thrilling semifinals to enter Clash of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy National T20 tournament here on Saturday.
Asked for bats at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Karnataka blisted Rohan Kadam blistered 56 balls to send 176 competitive for seven and then limit the opposition to 172 with six with Vidyadhar Patil’s right arm (1/1) holding his nerves in the final.
Patil had to defend 14 walks and Speedster ensured that his party would face defending champions Tamil Nadu at Clash Summit.
Kennataka Kadam’s opening and Skipper Manish Pandey (54 off 42 Balls) gave an aggressive initial side when they played with Vidarbha’s attack.
The duo took Pacers Darshan Nkande (28/4), Yash Thakur (1/3) and Lalit Yadav (2/36) to sew 132 Run for the first goal.
Kadam is more aggressive, while Pandey plays the second violin when they raise fifty teams only in Over 5.1.
The Spinner of the Orthodox Left-Arm Akshay Karnewar, who has been economical, conceded five walks in his first even when Karnataka ran to 53/0 after playing electricity.
While Kadam hammered seven four and four maximum, Pandey hit two four and three six when they took Vidarbha’s attack on the cleaners.
However, Lalit Yadav broke the holder after releasing the cadam on the 16th end, but at that time the damage was made.
Lalit hit again, this time removing Pandey, who was captured by Akshay Wakhare.
Karun Nair (5) also fell cheaply but the Fast Fire 13-Ball-27 by Abhinaav Manohar encouraged Karnataka through a 170-run mark.
Darshan Nkande brought havoc in the middle order by taking four goal in the ball four in the final, but too little and too late to pursue 177 which was tough, the opening of Vidarbha Atharva Taide (31) and Ganesh Satish (31) added 43 to the first goal.
But Karnataka cut back the opposition by dismissing the top four batteries to leave Vidarbha staggered at 103 for four.
Pacer Darshan MB Medium then sent back Jitesh Sharma (12) when Vidarbha lost half the side for 122.
But some late hit by Apoorv Wankhede (27 did not come out of 22 balls) and Karnewar (22 off 12 balls) mean Vidarbha needed 14 off the final when They take the game inside.
But Pacer Patil destroyed Vidarbha’s hopes, rejected Karnewar in the first ball of the final and then expressed his courage to see his house home.
