Karnataka Cabinet Approve Online Bet Prohibits, Games for Cash

Bengaluru: Immediately, playing online games and betting in Karnataka is likely to be considered a criminal activity that can attract prison for up to three years or RS 1 Lakh.
The cabinet, who met on Saturday, agreed to the Karnataka Police (Amandment) bill that seeks to ban all types of online games involving profits or profits.
The move came to several complaints from organizations and parents who were looking for action.
“The bill will be submitted in the Monsun session (starting September 13),” said Minister of Law and Parliament JC Madhuswamy.
A month ago, Madras the High Court has stated that similar laws imposed by the Tamil Nadu government to ban online betting games as Ultra Vires (acts of delegated legislative bodies that influence fundamental rights guaranteed to the public).
Madhuswamy says all online games are played using computers, cellphones and on social media platforms and bets in the form of tokens, electronic transfers of money and virtual currencies will be prohibited.
However, the lottery and horse racing running on the race courses inside and outside the country is not under the scope of the bill, he added.
