Mangaluru: With Dakshina Kannada District witnessed a surge in Covid-19 daily cases, the administration prepared to face the wave of possible third infections.
In addition to facilities at Wenlock District Hospital and eight medical colleges, the district has ordered 50 beds in each of the four taluk hospitals.
Meanwhile, 36 Covid care centers with nearly 2,700 beds have also been prepared.
The government has directed 118 hospitals and clinics listed under the KPME law to be prepared to manage cases.
DC KV Rajendra said the level of participants began to increase after July 28 with the opening of paramedic colleges, college engineering and other institutions for the exam.

“We have a 12,000 liter liquid medical oxygen factory at Wenlock District Hospital.

Each Taluk Hospital has ordered 50 oxygenated beds exclusively for Covid cases.
The taluk center is also given five ventilators.
There are quite a lot of doctors and other staff in all the Taluk Hospital, DC added.
The district has 176 pediatrics and every taluk hospital has a pediatric primary care unit.
The Indian pediatric association has conducted two training sessions for medical officers and staff to handle pediatric cases.
Meanwhile, 75 oxygenated beds are ready at the Wenlock Hospital regional sophisticated pediatric treatment center.
The district has also made arrangements to maintain enough intravenous immunoglobulin supplies to manage cases in children, Rajendra said.
“We have appointed eight medical officers, 77 nurse staff, 89 Lab technicians, 54 junior health assistants, seven group workers and 51 operators entered data through state disaster management funds.
Meanwhile, the government has gave sanctions 87 doctors, including 17 specialists.
PHC has been given a vehicle for health staff to track contacts and do tests, “he added.
