Mangaluru: The couple allegedly committed suicide by hanging in their apartment in Chitrapura on Tuesday morning.
The deceased, Arya Suvarna, 45 and his wife Guna Suvarna, called and also sent voice notes to the police commissioner of Mangaluru City, N Shashi Kumar told him that they had decided to end their lives for fear of Covid-19.
Police Commissioner tried his best to track partners and stop them from taking extreme but futile steps.
Guna Suvarna also left a suicide note.
N Shashi Kumar said that the police reached their apartment within 20 minutes after receiving a call but the couple was found hanging.
In his voice, Arya Suvarna said: “We have a symptom of Covid-19 from the last few days.
My wife was afraid of the disease because she had diabetes …
I have kept Rs 1 lakh for our final rite.” The case has been registered at the Jurisdictional Police Station.
