Bengaluru: Chairman of the Minister of Basavaraj Bommai said the panel led by former officer IAS K Jairaj will be established to revitalize the Escoms (electricity supply company) of the state, but with RS 20,000 crore contributions, the government is the biggest resurrection.
While various local agencies and agencies have to pay around RS 5,975 Crore cumulatively up to five ESCOMS – Bangalore’s electricity supply company (Bescom), the electricity supply company Chamundeshwari (CESCOM), Mysuru, Gulbarga (Gescom) electricity supply company, Mangalore electricity supply company (MESCOM )), and Hubli (Hescom) electricity supply company – the finance department owed Rs 12,912 Crore to subsidies for 30.6 lakh irrigation pumps.
Said the Energy Department official unless the government settles awaits contributions, ESCOM cannot be revived.
But the government faces the lack of acute funds and financial officials say they have told the chairman of the minister contributions very large so it took a long time to finish it gradually.
“Jairaj will have a frightening task to change the Escoms, considering a large amount of delayed bills from the government itself.
Cosmetic makeover will not help unless the panel restores extraordinary contributions.
It must be seen how he achieved this when the government complained of the coffers What is empty, “said Mg Prabhakar, an energy expert and former member of the Advisory Board, the Karnataka electricity regulation commission.
The government’s order is the Jairaj Committee immediately estimated.
Bommai chose a former bureaucrat considering its extensive domain experience as an energy secretary for around 10 years.
“I am waiting for the government’s order.
The main problem is the financial crisis of the ESCOM facing.
I am sure we can revive the company with cm guidance,” Jairaj said.
Energy minister V Sunil Kumar said the highest extraordinary contribution for Bescom.
The company, which supplies the power to eight districts (Bengaluru Urban, Rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagaram, Tumakuru, Chitradurga, and Davangere) must recover Rs 3,750 Crore.
From it, BBMP and BWSSB owe Rs 3,310 Crore.
Gram Panchayats cumulatively owed Rs 2,444 Crore to all five ESCOM.
“The indifference of the BBMP and BWSSB and the lethargy of Bescom officials to ensure a collection of timely bills is the reason for waiting for contributions.
It is important to recover it, the other ESCOM cannot solve what they owe to the power-producing company, which is around Rs 2,500 Crore,” said Sunil Kumar .
He said as a tight step, the energy department planned to repair prepaid meters in the government department.
