‘Karnataka Govt must offer land to shift houses near historic temples’

Hubballi: Former Chief Minister of Jagadish Shettar on Saturday regretted the development of several historic temples in the Dharwad district was being postponed because of the problems caused by houses built in a 100 meter radius of this structure.
Former CM asked the state and central government to offer land and disburse compensation to the owners of these houses, so they can move elsewhere, thus ensuring adequate buffer spaces for temples and their property.
Shettar on Saturday took work stock carried out as part of the renovation of historic Chandramoulhwar temple in Unkal and the Banishing Temple in Amargol in Hubballi.
After completing the inspection tour, Shettar said, “The government has taken steps to develop basic facilities in these historical temples, including Chandramoulhwara Temple, which originated in the 11th century by the Kings of the Chalukya dynasty.

Now, the archeological department has taken steps to ensure that these temples are equipped with basic facilities.
The work is also ongoing on the construction of compound walls, garden development, et al.
Security personnel will be deployed In these places, and facilities will be provided for the convenience of tourists.
“Shettar said that he had instructed Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation officials, the Department of Revenue and Archaeology, to conduct surveys from temples, and submit reports on their earliest conditions.
