Karnataka hasn’t got rid of RTO CheckPost

Bengaluru: Apart from the Central Order, the Karnataka Department of Transportation has not removed its posts on the border of the state even after four years of application of goods and services (GST).
The Ministry of Transportation and Jalan Raya Union (Morus) recently looked for status reports from the country regarding the elimination of transportation checks on the state border.
Although the Karnataka government maintains that all commercial tax examinations have been removed after the GST regime, 15 RTO CheckPost is still operational for physical verification of vehicle documents.
Many truck drivers accused of large corruption and traffic jams at checkpost, producing shipments and passengers who were slower.
“RTO checkposts defeats the goal of the GST regime.
E-Bill under the GST regime is expected to ensure unlimited truck movements.
Why does state government not apply the center decision to remove checkpost?” Asked the truck owner.
A transportation department official said they mainly checked road tax and violated violations and overload at this checkpost.
“This is the decision of the state policy to remove this checkpoint.
The Minister of Transportation will receive a telephone.
Vehicles of overloaded goods that violate the condition of permission also cause air pollution and road accidents.
How will we take action against illegal commercial vehicles avoiding the cost of permission and tax roads? Also transports illegal items, “said an official.
B Channa Reddy from the Federation of the Association of the owner of Karnataka Lorry said: “CheckPost RTO is only a collection point.
Officials and politicians do not want to abolish this Chartpost because their ‘monthly collection’ will be affected.
They want more violations so they can collect more bribes.
If The enforcement was tight for years, why did the violation not go down? For each truck, they collected Rs 100 to RS 5,000 based on violations.
If we do not pay, then they will ask us to go to court so that most truck drivers will pay.
” Additional Commissioners for Transportation (Enforcement) L Narendra Holkar said: “We have not made a decision about removing checkpost.
It was only an advisor from MORTH and not direction.
The country will make a decision about this.
We do not collect taxes, but focus on enforcement under the rules of the vehicle motorized.
