Karnataka has resources and human resources in many ways, but the state needs to focus on creating more infrastructure, especially in Bengaluru, to track the rapid development of industrial and economic development, industrial leaders said.
Mohandas Pai, Chair of Aarin Capital, said the state government did not have the vision of its central partner, and needed Niti Aayog itself to plan the 21st century.
“Karnataka is the most prosperous country in India with 66% of state GDP originating from services.
It has adequate human resources.
The State must focus on making infrastructure and also focus on Bengaluru,” he said.
PAI has placed a plan last year with the state government saying Karnataka will come out of the Covid-19 pandemic with a better form than others if it focuses on increasing infrastructure and introducing technology in the agricultural sector in the agricultural sector.
Karnataka, he said, also needs to narrow the economic gap between northern and south.
PAI suggests taking 20-30 small cities in the north which can be an industrial center, with good road connections with other states.
“There should be a Corridor of Suvarna Karnataka Eightlane that connects Bidar in the north to Bengaluru in the south, while also connecting Karwar and Mangaluru ports.” Vikram Kirloskar, Deputy Chair of the Toyota Kirloskar Motor, also emphasized the need for a better path.
“We need to issue industries from Bengaluru to other parts of the country and create ecosystems for people to live there,” he said.
However, Head of Biocon Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, said the focus of investment must be Bengaluru because it was an economic power plant.
“If you continue to invest in rural carnataka and ignore the capital, you do harmful the economy.” Bengaluru, he noted, was a hub for all of that, technology, biotech, defense and the aerospace sector.
The city administration, he said, was sad, with one BBMP tried to manage this big city.
Important, he said, has zonal administration.
