Karnataka: Inspired by Minister V Sunil Kumar, Udupi School to Start a Collection of Books

Udupi: After Energy Minister Sungan Kumar collected more than 3,500 books through his campaign, the Ministry of Education in Udupi Regency has also started a scheme for pond books from parents from students and the general public.
The Public Instruction Department on Tuesday sent a circular to the head of all schools in the district to participate in the campaign.
The principal has been directed at meeting parents and society once a week to collect used books under the Jolige Akshara scheme.
N H Nagur, deputy director of public instruction, told toi that such a collection would be handed over to the school library and Gram Panchayats.
This scheme is being implemented based on the cEO of the CEO of the Udupi Zilla Pancayat Naveen Bhat Y, he said.
“Students’ parents and other people can donate old books under the scheme.
The schools in this district will take the initiative to collect the books and give them to their school libraries or to Panchayats.
In this case, I have directed officers Educational blocks to coordinate with school.
Private school management has also been asked to participate in the scheme and collect books.
Our aim is to utilize old books that are not used.
The books, if donated, will help students, especially in the village, “He said.
The campaign to launch this scheme was held in Handattu Village in KotatuTu GP near Kundapur on Tuesday.
The Minister has set a trend only accepting books, especially Kannada, and not a bouquet of flowers from his sympathizers.
Recently, he showed off more than 3,500 books worth more than Rs 6 lakh.
The Minister has submitted books to many libraries in Karkala and its surroundings.
