Karnataka May Shelve Survey Survey Moves

Bengaluru: Proposals to survey the Church and the Bible community to get rid of illegitimate churches and to curb the conversion of forced religion seem to be secretly buried with a slow government after criticism.
On October 13, the legislative committee for the welfare of the backward and minority classes asked the district deputy commissioner to conduct a survey.
The panel, should meet on Wednesday, unable to continue for the wishes of the quorum.
At least nine out of 20 members must be present but only five appears.
Official said the survey was placed on the back of the burner.
Tenure Panel will expire on November 9, following the assembly speaker where Visheshwar Hegde Kageri is expected to be a new committee in mid-November.
“Officials from different departments said the survey could not be done because it was contrary to the constitutional provisions of religious freedom.
While the police said 36 forced conversion cases were registered this year, they said they were running the church and conducting a prayer meeting was not under the ambit criminal procedure,” said a person Senior Minority Welfare Department official.
There was a delayed public interest litigation that questioned the survey and official said the government wanted to wait for a high court ruling.
“I could not attend a meeting on Wednesday because the program scheduled earlier.
The meeting was canceled because many others were absent.
We need to consider many legal and social factors.
I will hold a meeting on Thursday,” said Chairman of the Committee and BJP MLA from Kumta Dankar Keshav Shetty.
In the absence of a regular chairman, GooSihatik Shekhar, BJP MLA from Hosadurga, led the meeting on October 13 when the panel requested home department officials, minority welfare and income to conduct surveys.
The move caused a sharp reaction from political parties and religious institutions.
While it was seen in the background of Shekhar’s view of religious conversion when he complained that his mother had entered the Christian religion, the powerful BJP leadership was reportedly commanded him to hold back.
“Incorrectly said that we wanted to survey the Church.
We want to collect information about religious institutions, including the Church, Mosque, Dargah and others, to prepare a database.
Not illegal to develop such data and the implementation of information collection will take place,” Shekhar said.
