Karnataka: More than 50% of students do not have gadgets or access to the Internet, express surveys

Mysuru: More than 50% of school students in Chamarajanagar do not have a smartphone or tablet to attend online class or watch the education video sent by the teacher, a survey by the Public Instruction Department (DPI) revealed.
According to the survey, while 57,990 students have smartphones or tablets in the Chamarajanagar district, 61,360 no.
A total of 71,608 students said they did not have access to the internet and 9,330 did not have a TV or radio in their homes.
In MySuru District, from 2,90,738 students surveyed, 98,936 (around 33%) did not have a smartphone or tablet to attend online classes; 1,18,041 does not have internet access and 15,248 do not have a TV or radio.
In the Shivamogga District, 79,788 students did not have a gadget, chikkamagalur (50,485), Hassan (76,404), Kodagu (25,440), and Mandya (76,685), surveys were found.
