Bengaluru: Karnataka is pondering the reopening of universities in all states on July 19, with 64% of students and 85% of staff in government and culture assisted have received at least one dose of vaccine so far.
It also plans to make a necessity for vaccination for students who attend offline classes.

Some universities, said sources, have reached 100% vaccination of students and staff.
The government is also considering issuing orders to make mandatory vaccination for students who attend offline classes, the official said.
Deputy Chairperson of CN Minister Ashwath Narayana said there was no date decided to reopen the title class.
“At present, the focus is on vaccination of students over 18.
The date or class of the opening title will be decided later after consulting all stakeholders,” he said.
Narayana, who holds a higher education portfolio, said more than 65% of students and government college staff and assistance have been vaccinated in the state up to 7,90,799 students in all, 3,13,898 students have been vaccinated.
Among the staff, 85% – 24,875 from 29,241 – has been affixed.
“Vaccination drive will be further accelerated now,” he added.
Meanwhile, the University of Bangalore has been vaccinated by 76.4% of students and staff on campus.
While the University of Bangalore University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering has covered 79% of students and staff, university law universities have been vaccinated 78.3% and the University College of Fisention Education has been vaccinated 71.6%.
The University of Bangalore V-C KR Kr Venugopal told Toi that 66% of hostel students had also been vaccinated.
“We hope to vaccinate around 20% of students when the university is reopened,” he said.
