BELOGIVAVI: The police forced Lathicharge to Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) activist in Batalagavi when they began to throw stones and tried to burn vehicles demanding the arrest of Kannada activists who smeared ink in the leader MES Deepak Dalvi.
Mes members began their protest in the Sambhaji circle and Khade Bazar by throwing ink on the Kannada board, police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (law and command) Vikram Amte reached a point to convince them to return to their homes.
More than 400 police personnel were deployed at Khade Bazar.
The MES leaders, who initially said that they were sure and would return home, then began to throw stones on government vehicles.
The police said that some government vehicles were damaged and in the Ramalinga Age Street, activists burned police vehicles, but were doused by the police immediately.
To control the masses, the police were forced to lathicharge.
