Karnataka: Relief for loss of plants due to disaster disasters

BELOGIVAVI: The State Government on Tuesday announced a significant increase in compensation for loss of plants due to natural disasters.
The Chairman of the Bakavaraj Minister Bommai made an announcement in the Assembly while replying to the debate about losing plants.
“According to the NDRF guidelines, Rs 6,800 remain per hectare to lose plants on dry land agriculture, which are very low.
So, we have decided to double it.
Rs 13,600 will be paid as compensation,” he said.
Likewise, the compensation per hectare of plants losses on irrigation land will increase from Rs 13,500 to Rs 25,000 and for horticultural plants, from RS 18,000 to RS 28,000.
“We have made this decision despite experiencing economic difficulties caused by pandemics.
An additional amount will cost Rs 12,000 Crore,” he said.
Previously, Revenue Minister R Ashoka said the authorities had distributed the compensation of RS 926 Crore to more than 12 lakh farmers on the loss of plants and premature floods this year.
He said the government had brought in a transparent system where the details of the survey were uploaded electronically, which in turn was verified by each district administration.
Then, DCS sent a report to the state government, which transferred the amount of assistance to a farmer bank account.
“This is the first good system in this country, ensuring the elimination of rapid compensation.
In the last 21 days, the government has distributed Rs 521 Crore to more than 9.1 lakh farmers,” Ashoka said.
He said the government had submitted a memorandum to the center which was looking for 1,280 crore rs against damage caused by flooding in October and November.
This center will send a team to assess damage in old Mysore, Haveri and Dharwad districts.
