Hubballi: Ganjgatti village people in Kalghatagi Taluk have banned the sale of liquor in their village.
They also maintain strict surprises to crack down on bootleggers operating in the village.
Ganjigatti, with a population of around 6,000, has an example for other villages in checking the sale of liquor.
Everyone in the village has decided to end the threat by stopping the flow of liquor.
Two days ago, the team who was a wary of intercepting Liquor-Laden’s vehicle, arrested three people and handed it to the Kalaghatigi police for trying to supply liquor to grocery stores in the village.
Nagalingayya Hiratha, Ganjigatti GP member, told TII that many children in the 13-16 age group had begun to consume liquor during locking.
“Because most school children are addicted to liquor, their parents who are worried about us looking for a solution,” he said.
After meeting with all village heads, they decided to end the threat.
“Many grocery stores, who sell liquor illegally are our first target.
Some of the shop owners fall in line, while others continue to sell it.
After we seek assistance from excise and the police department, the officers concerned visit the village and do what is needed,” He said.
Shivanand Ganiger, a village resident, said they had formed a youth team and mobilized them each to keep an eye on grocery stores and other places where liquor was sold.
“Our young men had caught three bootleggers with red hands.
After being called, the police rushed, grabbed the vehicle and took three people to their detention,” he said.
The Heldprabhu Surin meeting, the CPI of the Kalaghatigi police station, said they also held a meeting in this matter.
“We have also warned action if anyone opposes the order of liquor.
The villagers have arrested three people who have entered the village to sell liquor.
After accusing being accused of being accused of our prisoner, we confiscated a car and 10 liquor boxes from them,” he said .
