Karnataka: Three people lost Rs 2.4 Lakh to Sibercriminals in Haveri

Haveri: It seems as if cyber criminals make a congratulations at the expense of citizens who are easily fooled.
For example, in the last three days, three cases have been reported with people cumulatively losing Rs 2.49 lakh.
Interestingly, the three cheated people were under 30 years.
While one is a vegetable vendor, one is a daily wage worker and the third victim of a merchant involved in the trade in wholesale surgical instruments.
Byadigi Resident Rashida Inayathmulla, a daily wage worker, lost Rs 41,000 after he received information about WhatsApp, told him about the lottery he had won.
Firuzkhan Pathhan, a dealer in the surgical instrument, was deceived by Rs 98,000 by an unknown person who called him for the supposed business agreement.
Vegetable vegetables Sayyadgoud Shankaranaahalli lost a large amount of money Amoing the Three – RS 1.1 Lakh – to someone who poses as a tomato supplier.
Rashida said that he received a message on WhatsApp which had a lottery coupon for Rs 25 lakh on it.
“I then received a phone call asking me to pay the service fee to claim money.
I was asked to appreciate Rs 41,000, and following the instructions, I was credited with the number of Rs 16,000, Rs 18,000 and Rs 7,000 in three deposits,” said Rashida which was sad.
It was not after several attempts failed to contact the individual who was realized by Rashida, he had been cheated.
“I then filed a complaint with Wing Haveri Cybercrime, economics and narcotics (CEN),” he said.
Pathhan said that he received a call from a man (Phone Number.: 9630362774), which claimed to be a representative of a pharmaceutical company.
“He told me that he could get me a lot on surgical instruments, but asked me to credit at least 50% of the previous number.
Believe him, I was credited with Rs 98,000 in several installments.
But the number has been turned off since,” he said.
Sayyadgoudoud Shankarahaalli, vegetable vendor from Tip Pendaagar at Rattihalli, was contacted by Mohanbai on Facebook, which offered to supply tomatoes.
“I ordered 400 boxes of tomatoes for RS 1.9 lakh.
I was asked to credit a number of Rs 1.1 lakh in advance to various accounts.
But I have not been able to contact him because I praise the money,” said Sayyadgoud.
The Haveri Police Station Inspector CEN Santosh Pawar confirmed the receipt of three complaints.
“Many people credit money to the account without verifying the person’s credentials.
People must be aware of such cheats,” said Pawar.
