Bengaluru: Head of the Karnataka Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday said the state would soon have an anti-religious conversion law.
“The state government of learning related laws imposed by other countries and immediate anti-conversion laws will be formulated,” said Bommai.
He answered questions at a meeting with a group of fortune tellers, looking for a ban on religious conversion, on Friday.
According to Hindu Janajaguti Samiti Convener Mohana Gowda, under the Aegis whose event was held, more than 50 seer of various orders of Hinduism met with Bommai and emphasized the need for laws that prohibit religious conversion.
CM firmly stated that the Constitution did not allow forced conversion, including loans.
Then, said Gowda in a statement that the head of Sriram Sena Pramod Muthalik, Santhosgh Guruji, Siddalinga Swami and Pranaavananda Swami were among the delegates.
Muthalik was quoted as saying that schools and hospitals were used for religious conversion.
Many illegal churches also come in the state, he said.
Delegates demand that converted people be rejected specific benefits intended for scheduled caste and other classrooms.
