Karnataka : Winter legislative session will be held in Belagavi after 2 years

BENGALURU: The Cabinet on Monday decided to hold a winter session of the state legislature in Belagavi.
The schedule will be finalized at the next cabinet meeting.
Law and parliamentary affairs minister J C Madhuswamy said no Belagavi sessions were held in the last two years due to floods and pandemics.
If it is held as planned, it will be the first in the border district after the BJP came to power in 2019.
The Mumbai-K’tata region called Kittur KarnatakaThe cabinet decided to rechristen Mumbai-Karnataka region as Kittur Karnataka.
“We do not want to call Bombay-Karnataka or Mumbai-Karnataka, ” said Maduswamy.
Kittur-Karnataka region consists of Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Dharwad, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Gadag and Haveri districts.
It was under the Bombay presidency before Independence.
Kittur name is after taluk history in Belagavi ruled by Rani Chennamma.
