Karnataka’s backs decision to tweak IAS rules

The center has tweaked the recruitment policy in 1992 and reduced the intake of new IAS officers from 130 to 80 per year.
As a result, Karnataka faced a shortage of 20% senior officer over the past 10 years.
The state officer section has fallen to three when the actual requirement is 10.
Being aware of the problem, the center, in 2009, once again revised the recruitment policy to increase intake to 150 and more up to 180 increases to 180 in 2012.
