Kasturba scheme helps girls back to school

Hubballi: Many girls drop out of school because the pandemic now wants to continue their education, thanks to the scheme of Kasterba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) which provides free housing education to female students.
The locking and closing of the school forces many students including girls in rural areas to work in the fields and do other work.
The Ministry of Education launched several awareness programs about the Kasturba Gandhi Balika scheme to bring school students who drop out of school back to school.
Officials found students like that and told them about the facilities provided by the government and the state government.
According to sources from the Dharwad District Education Department, KGBV has received a good response because nearly 300 female students have registered for it in the district.
Deputy Director of Public Instruction, Dharwad, Mohan Hanchate told Ti that around 295 girls received tickets in two housing schools in Ganjigatti in Kalghiragi Taluk and in Alnavar Taluk.
Special housing schools are run in the gikeri, Hubballi Taluk, where 95 students including boys and girls are studying.
“The government introduces the KGBV program for the interests of students who are deprived of education and those who are in financial difficulties in rural areas.
We conducted a meeting and awareness program in the village.
As a result, 295 female students received tickets in this scheme,” he added.
Kalghatigi Block Resource Coordinator Kumar KF said, “We have taken all steps to ensure the comfort and safety of girl students to protect them from Covid-19.” Deepa Lad, Principal of Alnavar Housing School said, “The government provides housing education for female students from sixth grade to 8.
From class nine to 12, students must go to other schools but the dormitory facilities are given here.”
