Tokyo: Kaylee McKeown Australia set a new Olympic record to win a gold medal of backstroke 100m on Tuesday, annoying arch-rivals Regan Smith.
The 20-year-old touched 57.47sec, fractional outside his own world record, with Kylie Masse Canada, Rio Bronze Meonist, both in 57.72 and the third American Smith at 58.05.
“My legs must be hurt in the last 20,” said an ecstatic McKead.

“Masse switched to 50m with the third mckeown, but Australia strongly took it home.
Mckeown has a difficult lead-up for the match, with his father died last year from brain cancer.

“Not necessarily what I have traveled,” he said.
“Everyone has their own journey and I happen to be truly difficult.” I won’t have it in another way because I don’t think I will be in my place today without everything that happens.
“He also targets the 200 M gold back style, recently set the fastest fourth time in history.
