Madurai: Animal statue, which seems to have been modeled with hands from terracotta, has been found in Gauter in Keeladi Cluster in Tamil Nadu.
Site Director and Deputy Director of Archaeology Dr.
R Sivanananntham said the specimens were found at a depth of 167 cm.
It is around 6.5 cm long, and the width is around 4.3 cm.
Maybe toys, he added.
The head was broken, and the circular cavity was seen where the head might.
The surface is rough, and finger shows have been used on the body.
All legs are broken except for the right front legs that are short because some of it has been damaged.
The body has been made to look stacked and handsome.
There is no tail attached to it.
He said that as many details were lost, they could not determine what animals should be.
