New Delhi: Delhi police have asked DMRC to maintain extra vigils at seven metronya stations and close them if needed given the protest of farmers on the three Agri laws in front of the parliament of July 22, officials said on Sunday.
In his letter to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Delhi police said the protesters could use the Metro to reach the New Delhi area because it was the form of the most preferred national transportation in the national capital.
Seven metro stations are Janpath, Lok Kalyan Marg, Patel Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Bath House and Udyog Bhawan.
The farmer union has planned protests near the parliament to three Agri laws from July 22.
“DCP, the New Delhi district has asked to keep the extra vigil on seven metro stations and other stations located in the New Delhi area, and may be closed WEF 19.07.2021 and so on until the Monsun session ended, at a very short notice to hold back to hold back Protesters from reaching parliament through the Metro and avoiding unwanted incidents, “said the letter.
A senior police officer said it was only based on caution and if needed, only then the Metro station would be closed.
