New Delhi: Chairman of the Minister of Arvind Kejriwal on Friday marked 100 low-floor CNG air conditioning buses, taking the National Capital Public Transport Fleet to the highest of all time from 6,900 buses.
Delhi’s first prototype electric bus was also set for the launch and a total of 300 electric buses tended to touch the city road in April.
“We dedicate 100 new air conditioning floors to Delhi today.
These buses will be used starting today,” CM said.
He said the bus would be placed in a new depot developed in Ghumanhera and would mainly abolish rural routes.
“Overall, there are around 6,900 buses running on Jalan Delhi today.
This is the highest number ever achieved by the State Transport Department.
In the past there were around 6,000 buses during the Commonwealth game,” he said.
“In the coming days, we will see a bus infusion on a larger scale into the system.
The electric bus will arrive, the CNG bus is in process, and DTC (Delhi Transport Corporation) gets its own fleet too,” he said, adding that the whole The process of procuring buses takes two to three years.
“There was a bus scarcity when we came to power and we initiated the process of procuring the bus immediately again.
Since then, we have seen the bus roll over time,” he said.
“The Delhi government is committed to taking Delhi bus transportation systems with the highest standards and will provide the best frequency on each route,” he added.
100 buses, which have been deployed at nine additional cluster routes, are Bharat Stage VI stands stands.
They are equipped with heating systems, ventilation, and air conditioning, the bus kneels with folding ramp for different people.
The bus has a CCTV camera and panic buttons for women’s passenger safety too.
“We also made a big transition to electricity, the first bus that already existed in Delhi and was ready to start running on our way,” said Transport Minister Delhi Kailash Gahlot.
“Delhi buses are now standing out as an example of a safe, accessible and comfortable transportation system in this country and we are in the process of expanding our paratransit system to ensure the last mile connectivity that is safe for each Delhiite at any time of the day,” he said.
