Kuttayam: Kuttiyamma aged 104 years past the literacy examination, carried out by the state literacy mission in Kottayam Regency, with the colors flying by printing 89 marks of 100.
This course is equivalent to alphabetically Malayalam, the ability to write its own address and basic mathematics.
Kuttiyamma, who had never gone to school, also managed to score full value in mathematics.
Rehna John, Saksharatha Prerak who took the class for Kuttiyamma, said that he was an enthusiastic learner.
“The class is usually done at night.
He used to wait for me before the class with his books ready,” said Rehna who is also neighbor Kuttiyamma.
“I have to talk harder to him because he has hearing problems and vision.
If not, the third grade of the month went smoothly,” he added.
Kuttiyamma married at the age of 16 years.
Her husband TK Konti has died in 2002.
The couple has five children and Kuttyaamma now live with the oldest son of Gopalan in Ayardkunnam Panchayat from the district.
Minister of Education V Sivankutty Tweeted on Kuttiyamma’s achievement said, “There are no barriers to knowledge.
With very respectful and love, I hope Kuttiyamma and all the best new students,” he tweeted.
