Pathanamthitta: Three women from the family, who were on their way to attend the wedding ceremony, were killed when their car was upside down and fell into the canal in the Adoor in the Pathanamthitta district on Wednesday.
The other four in the vehicle, including the driver, fled with injuries and stabilized conditions until now, police said.
The deceased was a native of Affairs in Kollam District, they said.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened as a car, moving in high speed, upside down and plunged into the canal near bypass.
Vehicles can be seen swept because of distance because of strong currents, they said.
Fire personnel and rescue and locals managed to save four and rushed to the nearest hospital.
But, three women gave up on injury, they added.
