Thiruvananthapuram: Drive Vaccination for eligible students will begin at school on Wednesday, said Public Education Minister V Sivankutty on Monday.
Children in the age group 15 to 18 years are currently entitled to receive covid vaccines.
The minister said about 51% of students who qualified had received the first dose of vaccines.
8.14 lakh school children qualified the requirements for vaccination.
“In-house vaccination drive options will be available in schools where the number of benefits is 500 or more,” he said.
According to government statistics, 967 schools are eligible to prepare vaccination centers throughout the state.
Ambulance services, to meet emergencies, will be arranged in these centers.
Vaccines will be provided in specially arranged rooms.
Sivankutty said offline studies for class X students, XI and XII will continue for now.
Online class will continue for students in the lower class from January 21, he said.
Children with medical problems, who cannot take the Covid-19 vaccine, can produce a doctor’s certificate as evidence and thus get an exception.
The vaccine will be given only after getting permission from the child’s parents.
Department level meetings are scheduled for January 18 in schools where the vaccination center is being established.
Instructions have been given to do regular cleaning work where the offline class is being detained.
VICTERS channels will soon announce schedules for online and digital classes for all students in class I-IX.
All students should report to their respective schools for vaccination.
Students whose schools do not have a vaccination camp can take advantage of the primary health center and family of the Ministry of Health and take vaccines there.
The Minister speaks after a high-level meeting on vaccination.
