Thiruvananthapuram: A total of 87 children have been identified in the state who have lost their parents in a pandemic.
These children will get a compensation of Rs 3 lakh declared by the state government.
To compensate, the government has sanctioned Rs 3.2 crore.
Veena Health Minister George says children who lost their parents because of Covid-19 identified in the survey door-to-door are carried out by volunteers Child Development Scheme (ICD) are integrated.
Based on a survey, the child welfare committee of each in every district to visit them and have accumulated the required details of the type of help these children in the future.
In accordance with the decision of the previous government, fixed deposit of Rs 3 lakh in the name of the child and each monthly aid of Rs 2,000 will be given to these children.
Apart from this, the cost of education these children to degree level will be met from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
According to the guidelines set by the government, the children who have lost both their parents due to Covid-19 children who have lost their parents in death occurred after three months is also negative but the death occurred due to complications caused during this happened Covid-19 at that time, children who do not have parents and lose the only guardian in a pandemic and children who have lost the only parent during a pandemic will be eligible for compensation declared by the government.
The Minister said that the annual income of the family will not be the criteria to benefit from the government.
However, children in families who receive family pension the state government will not be considered for this.
The minister said fixed deposit has been determined such that the children can use the amount as soon as they become 18 years old.
But they can draw at any time when they need it.
